Timothy Lake sits in the heart of the South Cariboo’s Interlakes country, an easy drive off Highway 24 between 100 Mile House and Williams Lake. It’s a classic BC trout lake: quiet water, big skies, and cabins close enough to the shore that you can check the rises with your morning coffee.
The fishing
Timothy is best known for its stocked rainbow trout. Fish hold through the open-water season and the lake keeps producing into winter, when it becomes a reliable ice fishing destination. Nearby Dempsey Lake is an easy add-on for a second morning.

- Seasons: spring through fall for open water; hard-water fishing in winter
- Tactics: trolling and fly fishing from a small boat or float tube
Getting there & access
The lake is reached by Timothy Lake Road off the Fishing Highway (Highway 24). There’s road access right to the shoreline resorts, and a boat launch for getting a small craft on the water.
When to go
- May - June: open water warms up and the trout turn on
- July - August: family season — swimming, paddling and warm evenings
- December - March: ice fishing once the lake locks up
Where to stay
Martens Resort is right on Timothy Lake — lakefront log cabins, RV and tent sites, and boat and watercraft rentals, with swimming and paddling for the rest of the family. It’s the easiest way to fish the lake morning and evening without a long drive in.
